History - Pastelaria Chafariz
Since 1980 the Santos family has been involved in the business of producing and comercialising traditional Portuguese pastry. We seek to always respect the traditional recipes which Portugal is known for, but at the same time we aim for the highest quality produce.

Our quality department is run by Eng. Joaquim da Costa, who is in charge of collaborating with various external companies to create our partner's products. We are the biggest fresh pastry company in our country. We have implemented the food safety system known as HACCP.

On a daily basis, hundreds of clients from all across the country enjoy our pastry and we're particularly focused towards big events, some of which occur on a weekly basis. We distributed at some events such as the Tennis Masters in 2000, the Athletics Indoor Championship in 2001, the Gymnaestrada in 2003, the Euro Football UEFA Cup in 2004, Tennis Estoril Open and Moto GP for several years.

We work with the biggest multinational restoration companies in the country, who audit and present us with their choices.

Deliveries start around 4 am distrubuting daily around the Lisbon and Setubal districts with our own trucks, and in the rest of the country 2 or 3 times a week depending on requests. Our fleet is composed of 12 company vehicles with isothermal isolation, 5 of which are also equipped with refrigeration capabilities.

We are based in our own 3500m2 installations in an area of 8000m2, having at our disposal all the required conditions to operate. Also included are a gas and gasoline fuel tank, and a generator for electricity production in case of a power failure.

The workforce consists of 65 employees and operates 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays. Some of these products are exported to other European countries, as well as some Portuguese speaking African countries.
